Tata Harrier – The Most Awaited SUV of 2019

Tata Harrier - An overview

TATA in Today’s Automotive Market

If you look into the current scenario in the world’s Automotive industry, you’ll find that TATA is now placed in the same line with the other top car manufacturer brands all round the world. With Jaguar and Land Rover under it’s umbrella, the brand of “TATA” has already marked it’s entry in the glamorous market of super luxury sedans, SUVs ansd sports cars.

Keeping all these aside, the best thing about TATA is that, in spite of getting into the market of luxury cars, they have not forgotten the basics. The basics in a developing country like India is producing a budget car with features that one can only imagine in a Jaguar or Land Rover.

Harrier – The One to Look Out for!

Here comes the introduction to the much awaited SUV, the stylish beast, the TATA Harrier! Formerly named H5X, the concept SUV was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. Now it is all set to be launched in the Indian market with a new name “Harrier”.

The first thing which attracts one toward the Harrier is its unique design. The head lamp design of this SUV is very unconventional. The day running LEDs which also act as turn indicator, are kept at the top. Whereas the head lamp, which is a pair of Xenon projector are kept a bit low, near the fog lamps. The wide black grill in the front gives it a little sporty as well as aggressive look. Being 4598mm (4.6m) long and 1894mm (1.9m) wide, it has a commendable road presence. Thanks to the 17inch high wheels that contributes to the 205mm of ground clearance. Pretty decent for any off-road vehicle. The rear end of the car looks equally fantastic with the clean yet edgy tail lights.

Here is Why the Harrier’s been Already a HIT!

The Harrier is built on the Land Rover platform, which is a pretty big thing for a budget SUV. The Fiat made 2lit 16V 4 Cylinder Diesel engine produce a decent 140 bhp and 350N-m of torque, which is good for day to day city usage as well as little off-roading in the weekends. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and three driving modes: City, Eco and Sport (also a Cruise mode for your highway wanderlust). No automatic gearbox available for the Harrier right now but maybe next year, who knows! Only thing we miss is that unlike Land Rovers, the Harrier hasn’t come up with the All-Wheel-Drive option yet.

Beauty Within?!

Moving onto the next segment; The interior of the Harrier comes with a beautifully crafted hydraulic steering wheel which has most of the much needed controller buttons mounted on it. The dual screen infotainment system is something that catches the eye. One big 8.8 inch touch screen on the dashboard and another 7 inch screen is fitted to the instrument cluster. The Harrier comes with Android Auto, Apple Carplay and lots of such interesting features.

Perfect Family Friendly SUV?!

For anyone when it comes to family, safety comes first. The brand new SUV from TATA comes with a hell lot of safety features like 6 airbags, ABS, Traction Control as well as Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, Rollover Mitigation and much more.

The cabin is designed to be very much specious with comfortable seating arrangements for 5 adults, making the Harrier very much a family friendly SUV.

Ending Note:

If you are looking for a SUV that shares its DNA with Land Rovers and that too at a pocket friendly price range of 15.22 to 19.42 Lakhs, TATA Harrier is just the one for you.
